Connection Practice
Awaken the greatest force by to reconnect with yourself and others in harmony
The recent global pandemic has forced us to see first-hand the VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity) world that is unfolding before our very eyes, and many organizations from businesses to non-profits to educational organizations are awakened to the greater value in caring about people’s social and emotional wellbeing.
Numerous studies show the benefits of social and emotional wellbeing in workplaces and schools. However, many organizations find it difficult to implement tools and practices that are practical and effective.
.
The Connection Practice is a skill that unites your empathy and insight to create harmonious relationships with yourself and others. Empathy is attained through a conscious connection to feelings and needs, and insight is accessed through heart-brain coherence.
The synergy in this partnership maximizes your social and emotional intelligence, builds resilience, and enhances performance. This skill has proven its value in businesses, schools, universities, non-profits, families and faith-based communities.
Connection Practice gratefully acknowledges the HeartMath® Institute and Marshall Rosenberg’s Nonviolent Communication for inspiring the Connection Practice.
How people feel at work or at school – stressed, threatened, valued, engaged – and their ability to self-regulate their emotions profoundly influence how they perform.
Social and emotional intelligence is the key to manage conflicts and irrational decisions in a positive and healthy way..
Social and emotional intelligence can be learned and has been proven both scientifically and practically to:

-
increase engagement and reduce turnover
-
increase productivity
-
resolve problems creatively
-
create a more cooperative and harmonious work/learning environment

Furthermore, a study published by Harvard Business Review found that companies with a positive work environment, high levels of employee engagement and sense of purpose, outperformed their competitors in terms of revenue growth, profitability, and shareholder returns.

In Schools, the emotional state of the students greatly affects their learning and nurturing of relationships. When the Connection Practice Curriculum is implemented in schools, evidence shows that students do better on tests and also learn to resolve turmoil and create harmonious relationships. The students will learn how to connect with themselves and others by moving away from judgment and blame toward self-responsibility, compassion for others and creative problem-solving. Using the practice daily creates emotional safety in class and ensures each student feels heard and knows they matter. It can be used prior to exams and throughout the day to resolve tensions or conflict. The Connection Practice was introduced in the Costa Rican public school system in 2004, and introduced to almost 1,500 teachers and 40,000 students per year. Each year, the program was independently evaluated by graduate students from the United Nations University for Peace.
In a survey, teachers reported that:
-
Aggression and violence diminished
-
There was less intolerance and fewer conflicts
-
Misconduct reports decreased from 16 to 9 per month
-
Students learned to resolve conflicts on their own
-
The relationships among the teachers and with the principal improved significantly
